Opportunities

Undergraduate student research and possibly employment positions are available for the academic year and summer to perform or assist in field and laboratory work focusing on the biology/ecology and sustainable management of weedy species in both agricultural and natural systems.

Students will learn or enhance their weed identification skills, be involved in field and laboratory trial data collection, data entry and presentation.

Current projects in our Weed Ecology and Management Research Lab focus on the:

Weed biology of the invasive plants, pale swallow-wort and black swallow-wort, in natural systems of the Lower Great Lakes Basin and Hudson Valley;
Impact of mycorrhizal fungi on plant invasiveness;
Weed seed biology and weed population dynamics;
Effect of Bt-corn systems on weed seed predation by carabid beetles
